While working on my set of unicorn-themed medieval work, I set out to make a small looping Gif to practice retaining the style in motion.
The rough animation was accomplished in Toonboom, but the final was put together with photoshop

The very first animation pass was simply to nail down the movement of the body and legs. At this point i was focused on making sure the run was clear and accurate
At this point i was settling on the movement of the head and tail. I also added a few frames to smooth out the movement on the legs, as they were getting a little hard to read. The speed was slowed down a touch so I could check for inaccuracies
My final roughs. I sped up the loop to make it feel more like a proper gallop. I added a stylized mane and some notes on how i would be stylizing the fur on the tail, neck, and ankles.
After doing all my roughs in toonboom, i pulled them into photoshop so i had more control over the lineart and marker textures. This image shows all the drawn frames on top of eachother in photoshop before the background or color was added.
The finished Unicorn run, with a proper background, color, and paper texture to finish!
